Social Services Assistant South Orange Health and Rehabilitation Center 1730 Lucerne Terrace, Orlando, FL 32806 Job Overview The Social Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families in navigating social services and accessing necessary resources. This position involves working closely with clients to assess their needs, provide guidance, and facilitate access to various services. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a compassionate demeanor, and the ability to manage crisis situations effectively. Duties Conduct assessments to identify client needs and develop appropriate service plans. Provide crisis intervention and support for clients facing urgent situations. Assist clients in accessing child welfare services, addiction counseling, and Medicare resources. Facilitate communication between clients and service providers to ensure continuity of care. Mentor and supervise clients in developing life skills and achieving personal goals. Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress in compliance with agency policies. Collaborate with community organizations to enhance service delivery and resource availability. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients towards positive change. Stay informed about Section 8 housing programs and assist eligible clients with applications. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Strong understanding of crisis management techniques and experience in crisis intervention. Familiarity with child welfare systems, addiction counseling practices, and Medicare processes. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. Experience in mentoring or supervising individuals is a plus.
