Job Description

Life Coach Description The Life Coach supports individuals in obtainingthe tools needed to live independently in the community. They workwithin the Agency’s team model, establishing open communication,support, and accountability among co-workers in accordance with MHA’sCore Values (Respect, Integrity, and Compassion), policies, practices,program funding and applicable regulatory agency guidelines. Based inHampden County, this is an engaging, rewarding job for an individual whois truly dedicated to making a difference in the community and the livesof young adults.

Schedule:

Full Time, Tues-Sat 12p-8p Position’sEssential Functions Help young adults learn independent living skills byteaching, role modeling. Communicates, represents and promotes theperspective of individuals, serving as an advocate in collaboration withthe person. Participate actively in their community. Works withindividuals to prepare for a variety of formal and informal meetingsincluding treatment planning, employment services and socialengagements. Support and advocated for individuals during admission andtransition from the program. Share information about communityresources, including peer-run groups, and community events; Facilitatescommunity engagement activities for individuals. Provision of IAPinterventions. Coordination with vocational/educational activities.

Facilitating groups to improve young adult’s life skills. Modelsself-care and self-advocacy techniques that may include health andwellness. Interacts with young adults in order to assess needs, provideinformation, discuss problems, identify patterns and stressors andencourage growth and development. Develop individual’s confidence inorder to articulate their life goals. Perform other similar or relatedduties as assigned or as necessary. Promotes understanding of eachindividual’s cultural identity to be able to enhance support andrespect of the individual’s choices. Complete documentationrequirements including progress notes, data entry. Transport as needed.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Requirements Valid driver’slicense, sufficient automobile insurance, acceptable driving record, anda safe reliable vehicle during working hours. Demonstrated ability towork independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, take initiative,follow through, and work cooperatively as a member of a team. Good oral,written, computer, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability toadapt to the changing needs of the program participants. Stronginterpersonal skills, patience, caring, and compassion. Cheerful,outward-going personality. Must be able to pass and maintaincertifications in CPR, and first aid. Demonstrates ability to engage andbuild respectful and collaborative relationships. Performs well understress and in the event of a crisis. Familiarity with local communityresources. Must be at least eighteen years old. Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree. Previous experience helping educate young adultspreferred. Prior experience in advocacy or peer support role preferred.
