Attendance Outreach Worker Dracut Public Schools – 3.0 Dracut, MA Job Details Full-time $47,500 – $55,000 a year 18 hours ago Qualifications Mid-level Full Job Description The Dracut Public Schools is seeking an Attendance Outreach Worker. The Attendance Outreach Worker collaborates with district and school-based administrators, families, and students to provide appropriate attendance outreach services to students experiencing challenges with attendance. The Worker will engage with various agencies, including the court system, as a representative of the Dracut Public Schools.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent the school district to initiate legal proceedings to enforce compulsory attendance laws; prepare information for formal hearings/court cases, and represent the school district in the courtroom
  • Conduct home visits to confirm residency
  • Serve as a liaison between the school district and various agencies such as social services, the court system, and the police department concerning student truancy
  • Monitor student attendance on a regular basis and prepare attendance reports
  • Assess at-risk students/families to determine needs
  • Assist families by identifying resources, providing information, referrals, support, and accessing and navigating multiple state systems and community resources
  • Support/strengthen home-school relationships and advise parents of their legal responsibilities to ensure school attendance
  • Consult with school-based teams
  • Implement strategies to decrease attendance issues and dropout rates
  • Consult with administrators and faculty regarding complex student and family issues
  • Provide guidance to students at risk of dropping out, school failure due to poor attendance, and/or school refusal
  • Identify and address the personal, familial, and environmental issues that interfere with attendance
  • Participate in meetings and parent conferences as appropriate
  • Support school-based positive behavior intervention support and social/emotional learning committees
  • Liaise with local community colleges and post-secondary vocational training providers
  • Develop and deliver workshops focused on Homelessness, Foster Care, and attendance laws, reporting, regulations, and district policies
  • Remain current with laws, regulations, DESE directives, and reporting requirements regarding attendance, homelessness, and foster care
  • Act as the Homeless Liaison and/or Foster Care Liaison and as a resource for homeless families and students in foster care
  • Work with school teams to prepare all documents for submission to the court system for any Child Requiring Assistance cases;
  • Attend hearings, and act as the liaison to the probation department and other state agencies
  • Actively participate in district-level committee work
  • Any other duties as required

190 Days – All 180 school days plus 5 days before school year begins and 5 days after school year ends
