POSITION SUMMARY
Creates, markets, and leadsspiritual, physical, intellectual, cultural, and emotional eventsand programs to foster a Weller lifestyle tailored to the needs andinterests of a diverse resident population. Sets a leadershipexample for others to follow by empowering older adults inindependent living, assisted living, memory care and skillednursing environments to live life to the fullest.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Engages residents in Weller Life opportunities throughformal activities and informal interactions. Plans and facilitatesspiritual, physical, intellectual, cultural, and emotionalprogramming for residents that is consistent with SLC standards andfocused on residents’ unique needs and interests. Continuouslygauges resident’s interests, hobbies, preferences, curiosities andneeds; creates and continuously updates a diverse and stimulatingmenu of programming activities and events accordingly. Seeks outand fosters partnerships with local organizations, non-profitgroups, educational institutions, and others to identifyopportunities for residents to share their talents throughvolunteerism and to bring outside talents into the community.
Creates and publishes a variety of professional writtencommunications to promote programs, educate residents and families,and share examples of Weller Life in the community. Monitorsresident participation in programs to evaluate their appeal andincrease participation; adjusts calendar or events accordingly.
Stays abreast of active aging and generational trends in order tocontinuously enhance Weller Life initiatives; shares relevantinformation with peers and community staff to increase awarenessand support professional development. Shares successful activityblueprints with team residents and participates in best practicescalls. Partners with team, residents and home office staff todeliver engaging and informative orientation and in-servicetraining programs. May participate in award winning WAVES poolprogram. May run family support groups. Participates and attendsall in-service training and education programs as scheduled. Entersassessments into company software as needed. Other duties asassigned.

Full Physical Demands, Work Environment, andExpected Hours of Work:
The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. May berequired to stand, walk, reach, water walk. An individual in thisposition is often required to read, write, stand, walk, sit, usehands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reachwith hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and/orhear. An individual in this position will be required to lift orcarry weight up to 25 lbs. Must be free of diseases that can betransmitted in the performance of job responsibilities during thestage of communicability unless the associate can be given dutiesthat minimize the likelihood of transmission. May be exposed tominimal to moderate noise and exposure to blood and/or body fluids.
Also may experience traumatic situations including psychiatric anddeceased residents.
TRAVEL:
Local and out of state travel,including overnight stays, may be required from time to time toattend conferences, training, meetings, and professionaldevelopment programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Highschool graduation or GED required. CPR and AED certificationrequired (must be attained in first 60 days of Employment).Activities certification desired. Four year college or universitydegree in Recreation Therapy or similar field desired
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to read, write, speak andunderstand English fluently. Ability to meet or exceed thecompany’s attendance and punctuality standards. Ability to usemiscellaneous software and office equipment. Ability to understandand follow directions as given. Ability to work with minimalsupervision. SLC3
