GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The translator/outreach worker will work closely with the home visitors to provide translation to non-English speaking participants. This role will work closely with Parents as Teachers, Nurse Family Partnership and Healthy Families America participants to ensure services can be provided to the Spanish speaking only program participants. The translator/outreach worker will respond to and qualify referrals from potential clients via a variety of communications methods. In addition to referral coordination, this position will conduct outreach activities in designated markets to increase demand and referrals to the Nurse Family Partnership program. This jobs hours are listed below: 5 hours per day/20 hours per week-hours will vary Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday’s occasional
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide verbal translation in real time, delivering messages in both English and Spanish between multiple parties, reciting everything verbatim Create written translations of documents and messages, providing copies of documents Respond to inquiries about NFP from potential clients and verify eligibility for the program Build awareness about NFP in community Establish community partners for referrals to NFP Track outreach data and efforts Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor May require working non-traditional hours

Education:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree or some college preferred
Work Experience:
Experience in translating in a social work environment is desired Related outreach work experience preferred
Licensure and Credentials:
None required
Skills:
Must be completely fluent in both Spanish and English, with an extensive vocabulary in both languages. Have excellent English and Spanish grammar skills to provide precise, sensible translations of both languages that are as close as possible to the speaker’s actual word arrangement. Because conversations and documents can be lengthy and complicated the translator will need patience to provide precise translations. Excellent interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills and a strong ability to follow through. A positive and respectful attitude with all work-related contacts and members of the community. Proven ability to collaborate with a team of colleagues, seek guidance from the supervisor as needed, as well as to work independently and a keen attention to detail. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Proficient in use of computer and keyboard Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned.

Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a computer, telephone, copier and medical equipment Required to talk and hear Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment:
This position is a remote position and requires accompanying home visitors on home visits to non-English speaking participants to provide translation. The position also requires traveling to do outreach in the areas served by the NFP program. This job operates in a professional office environment and in homes. The work environment offers standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
