JOB TITLE

Recovery Life Coach

SUMMARY:

Recovery Life Coaches shall at a minimum hold a bachelor’s degree. The Recovery Life Coach will be located at A Frontier Health Location or Overmountain Recovery and assigned to clients in the Hub and Spoke system. The Recovery Life Coaches shall, through specific strategies and skills, assist and encourage clients to create the life they envision, and may include coaching on matters such as careers, home or other life situations. The duties of the Recovery Life Coaches shall include, but not be limited to the following:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or education and experience equivalent for the responsibilities of the position and trained in alcohol, tobacco, and/ or other drug abuse specific activities or skills required.

Licensure:

Valid driver’s license in TN.

Certification:

Certification as a Peer Support Recovery Specialist from the respective state department or eligibility for certification (with the expectation that this will be attained as soon as possible).

Experience:

Past/present utilization of mental health or SUD services preferred

Knowledge/Skills:

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to drive and has own transportation.
Must have intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form meaningful relationships with individuals in recovery.
Must have the ability to work as a team member and function well in social settings.
Must have excellent reading comprehension and retention of information. Must have the ability and willingness to accept direction and adhere to appropriately established boundaries.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assisting clients with identifying and resolving personal and environmental obstacles to recovery, such as, employment, health and social services, and recovery support.
2. Maintaining documentation of client contacts in TN-WITS and complete GPPA’s as they are due.
3. Performing one-on-one coaching and support to those in need.
4. Working with community partners and responding as needed to referrals from community stakeholders and multiple community entities.
5. Orient individuals to the agency and programs.
6. Develop meaningful relationships with individuals in recovery.
7. Provide support to individuals and family members.
8. Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to recovery philosophy.
9. Assist staff in providing recovery training.
10. Demonstrate commitment to continued education on wellness and recovery.
11. Participate in required meetings and trainings as determined by supervisor.
12. Assist individuals in discussing and identifying personal goals for recovery.
13. Maintain accurate records to standard.
14. Model hope, personal responsibility, regular use of wellness tools (such as WRAP), and self- advocacy by sharing his or her personal recovery story, how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained
15. Assist professional staff in identifying program environments that are conducive to recovery; lend own unique insight into mental illness and what makes recovery possible.
16. Attend relevant seminars, meetings, and in-service trainings, including out of town trainings, as directed/maintaining CPRs.
17. Provide assistance to professional staff in linking individuals to services and helping individuals obtain services such as Social Services, medical services, housing, etc.
18. Responsible for working independently in office setting or other community location.
19. Case Management / Recovery Life Coach duties as assigned
20. All other duties as assigned.
