Job Description

Oversees Child Welfare Services and administrative operations of a Class 2 County DFCS office. Manages the administration of policies and programs designed to protect and protect children and families. Ensures mandated services with priority of child safety and service provision to children and families. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of existing programs to ensure the identified oue measures are achieved.
Assures agencypliance with policies, appropriate documentation and reporting requirements.
Builds and encourages a cooperative team-oriented environment within unit(s) and with other agencies and providers.
Creates and maintains positive working relationships within themunity and on the county DFCS Board.
Develops and administers budgets.
Facilitatesmunication within the unit(s)/agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure/policy level.
Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges social services employees.
Leads and administers aprehensive system of public assistance, employability and social services.
Manages human services and directs administrative activities for groups of social services employees.
Plans, administers and maintains the operation of social services programs.
Reviews new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness andpliance with state, local and federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of supervisory experience in a human service delivery program. OR
Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of experience at the lower level County Director 1, Child Welfare Services (SSM070) or position equivalent.
Related qualifications/experience: Related qualifications include social work and behavioral science degrees, including but not limited to the following: social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health and public administration. Related experience include the provision of services in a social services environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:
Two (2) years human service work experience which included the supervision of subordinate directors, managers or supervisors in a human services delivery program such as Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), Department of Child Support Services (DCSS), Department of Aging Services (DAS), Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) orparable agencies.
