About the Agency
The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has a position available for a Social Services Supervisor in our Wellbeing and Permanency Unit. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi’s at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance. About the Position
This position will be responsible for Service Area 2
C:
Alcorn, Tishomingo, and Prentiss counties. Second-level supervisory positions accountable for overseeing first-line supervisors of social service activities of a facility or program. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen. Participates in developing procedures and administrative policies and administering program budget.

Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of experience, and 1-3 years of supervisory experience. Appointing authority may require a Master’s Degree and/or social worker’s license.
Agency preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social services, psychology, educational psychology, sociology, nursing, criminal justice, counseling, marriage and family therapy, family studies, or a related field and 3-5 years of experience, and 1-3 years of supervisory experience. Appointing authority may require Master’s Degree. Will also require Social Work License in state of Mississippi
