Primary Purpose:
- The primary purpose of the Director of Children and Youth Ministry position is to develop, organize, execute, enhance, and oversee all ministries to children and youth from birth through grade twelve, under the supervision of the Pastor(s).
- Essential Functions
- 1.
1. Develop and implement programming that encourages the spiritual growth in all children. 1. In children from birth through sixth grade, to include, but not limited to: worship, classrooms, group activities, and musical programming. 2. In youth from seventh through twelfth grades, to include, but not limited to: worship, classrooms, youth group activities, Bible study, pre-confirmation, confirmation and musical programming. 3. Develop, organize, and oversee child/youth/family ministry programs 4. Responsible for selecting appropriate curriculum across all age levels to be used in programming.2. Mentor children and youth guide them in their spiritual journey.3. Recruit, train, schedule and supervise volunteers who serve as mentors and leaders of children and youth’s programming, including the nursery; communicate effectively with volunteers as appropriate.4. Ensure all volunteers have received appropriate clearances as required by law and/or the Safe Sanctuaries policies prior to serving.5. Advocate for the safety and well-being of all children through the Safe Sanctuaries policies, mentoring, counseling, and referrals as appropriate6. Plan, organize and lead Vacation Bible School7. Plan, implement, and promote youth service projects such as collection/distribution of care kits for college students/veterans/etc. and identify age-appropriate mission projects that provide children opportunities to develop a Christian worldview8. Implement and coordinate special events including but not limited to mission trips, youth retreats, etc.9. Coordinate with community groups which use First United Methodist Church facilities for services to children birth to grade six.10. Empower, equip and coordinate youth-led worship to include on retreats, youth weekend, youth-group worship and mission trips.11. Network with key stakeholders (parents, congregation members, community members, other churches.) to further youth ministry programming.12. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
- :•Education•High school diploma or equivalent required•Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, religion or a related field is preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience involving the development and implementation of programming for children and teens

- Computer skills include e-mail, spreadsheets, creating and editing documents, etc. Knowledge of and ability to use office equipment such as printers, copiers, phones, etc. Desire for professional and personal development, specifically in youth programming
