Serves as the Tuition Waiver Education Benefits Coordinator for SCDVA, providing customer service to the general public, Veterans, widows, and their families by answering walk-in, email, and telephonic inquiries pertaining to Veteran related education issues. Assists the Deputy Director of Veteran Services and Tuition Waiver Program Manager as needed for continuous operations. Coordinates with each state supported college, university, and technical college to ensure compliance with the SC Tuition Assistance for Certain War Veterans Children state tuition laws, periodic (quarterly & semi-annual), and annual summary & statutory accountability reporting requirements. Utilizes work-flow processing and computer skills to include the Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) on a daily basis.
Responsibilities of the
Tuition Waiver Ed Benefits Coordinator:
Serves as the coordinator for the SC Tuition Assistance for Certain War veterans Children program; Free Tuitions (FT). Review/pre-screen incoming FT applications and transfer requests to determine eligibility IAW South Carolina Code of Laws, Section 59-111-20. In coordination with the US Department of Veterans Affairs Public contact Team, applications are pre-screened for eligibility. Information is entered in the FT database for tracking purposes and updated regularly as applicable. Prepares denial/approval letters for signature and emailed to the appropriate POC at each state supported college. Prepares/submits monthly summary report for SCDVA leadership and communicates with all state supported schools to obtain surveys which assists in completing the annual report. Periodically provides input to update the FT application as applicable.
Integration of federal education benefits available to Veterans and Veteran beneficiaries.
Serves as an Administrative Coordinator for SCDVA providing customer service to the general public, Veterans, widows, and their families by answering walk-ins, email, and telephonic inquiries pertaining to Veteran related issues. Coordinates mail pick-up and delivery with the Dept of Admin’s Mail Division; and distributes mail to appropriate staff. Utilizes work processing and computer skills to include the Microsoft Suite Application (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) on a daily basis.
Integrates emerging South Carolina government inter-agency education benefits and opportunities reserved for Veterans and beneficiaries meeting inter-agency qualification standards, to include, but not limited to, South Carolina Army and Air National Guard education benefits for uniformed members, as well as any special considerations for education opportunities State inter-agency organizations develop that benefit members of the South Carolina Guard and eligible family members, as appropriate.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and five (5) years of work experience in business management or administrative services; or an associate degree in a related field and three (3) years of administrative experience; or a bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of administrative experience. Must have a valid Driver’s License along with a clean driving record. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office. Must have excellent customer service skills.
