Certified Youth Peer Support Specialist 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Calera, AL 35040 Certified Peer Support – Youth The Youth Peer Support Specialist will provide support, mentorship, and advocacy to young people facing challenges related to mental health and other life stressors. The specialist will build rapport and trust with clients, offering empathetic and relatable guidance to help them navigate their personal journeys towards wellness and stability.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED, a valid Driver’s License, maintenance of a good driving record. Become certified as a Certified Peer Specialist through the Department of Mental Health. Must have lived experience as being diagnosed with a mental illness prior to the age of 26. Primary job functions and performance expectations: Provides recovery-oriented support to clients with serious emotional disturbance ages 10-18. Assist the client in identifying strengths, needs, goals, and barriers to recovery. Meet face-to-face with clients individually or in a group setting in the office and in the community. Provide intensive support through social, recreational, skill development, and linkage services with clients. Submit documentation, which is concise, accurate, and in accordance with Center policies and DMH Standards. Meet assigned quarterly average for billable services. Maintains and improves professional skills. Works effectively with support personnel. Will execute these duties and additional responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner as assigned and discussed by supervisor. These duties will be treated with the same importance in relation to confidentiality and priority as other duties and responsibilities.
