EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
The County VSO is responsible for developing, implementing and managing veteran-focused outreach programs and services within St. Clair County. This position connects veterans and families with essential resources, including benefits assistance, career development, mental health support, and housing assistance. The County VSO will work with local organizations, government agencies, and community partners to support veterans in achieving stability, well-being and self-sufficiency. Represent the County VSO Program at community events, meetings and conferences; ensure veterans are aware of and can access VA benefits, career training programs and other veteran’s services. The County VSO will assist veterans in navigating VA benefits. Provide direct support and referrals for mental health, substance abuse recovery, and emergency assistance. Work closely with the accountability courts program and involve veterans, ensuring they have access to resources for rehabilitation and successful reentry into the community.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
: A high school diploma or GED/equivalent is required. Post high school education is desired. Military service experience is required. Must provide DD214 or equivalent showing Honorable Discharge. As a safety-sensitive position, must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment DOT physical and drug and alcohol screening, background check, as well as possess a good driving record. Basic computer skills are necessary. Must have professional appearance and demeanor and must possess excellent basic to intermediate mathematical and statistical ability. •
