(ARC) Danbury, CT Job Details Full-time From $45,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Mileage reimbursement Health insurance Paid time off Professional development assistance Retirement plan Qualifications Spanish Google Workspace Addiction counseling Fair Housing regulations Yardi Mid-level Section 8 Portuguese Communication skills Full Job Description Overview The Housing Coordinator plays a crucial role in assisting individuals and families fleeing domestic violence, human trafficking, and/or sexual assault, who are living in shelters or places not meant for human habitation. The Housing Coordinator will assist clients with securing safe and affordable, permanent housing, and achieve stability in that housing. This position involves working closely with clients to navigate housing options, provide support during the application process, and ensure compliance with relevant housing inspections and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social work, property management, or related fields, with a focus on crisis management and intervention. Responsibilities Housing Specialists will provide the following housing location/inspection services: Actively and rapidly identify housing options in the community through housing searches, housing inspections, and landlord negotiations. Proactively recruit landlords and build landlord relationships. Maintain consistent communication with Advocates and survivors. Participate in and complete program intakes, showing units, rental verification, lease signing, rent reasonableness, utility allowance calculations, HQS and lead inspections and re-inspections, and CBRS mapping if units are in a coastal community. Inspect units for lead prior to occupancy and re-inspected at least annually and coordinate with local health departments on a quarterly basis. Verify there is no conflict of interest for any payee/landlord. Serve as ongoing point of contact for landlords. Collaborate with Advocates to complete all required housing paperwork. Participate in case conferencing, program assessments, meetings, trainings, and webinars as required. Assist clients in identifying suitable housing options based on their needs and preferences. Facilitate communication between clients and landlords or property management companies. Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress with case notes. Ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations throughout the housing process. Offer crisis intervention support to clients facing housing instability or emergencies. Collaborate with community organizations to provide additional resources and support for clients. Stay informed about local housing laws and regulations to effectively advocate for clients. Skills Strong understanding of trauma-informed approach, survivor-centered approach, and providing case management services as needed using a low barrier approach that `emphasizes community integration, stable tenancy, recovery, and flexible advocacy. Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus. Knowledge of Section 8 housing programs and processes a plus. A background in social work or related fields is highly desirable. Familiarity with Fair Housing regulations and compliance requirements. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Willingness to learn, essential.
