Animal Shelter Coordinator New Fairfield Sherman Animal Welfare Society Inc New Fairfield, CT 06812 Job Overview The Animal Shelter Coordinator plays a vital role in the management and operation of our animal shelter. This position is responsible for overseeing daily shelter activities, ensuring the well-being of animals, and providing exceptional customer service to visitors and adopters. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers. Duties Manage daily operations of the shelter, including animal intake, care, and adoption processes. Monitor staff and volunteers, providing training and support as needed. Ensure proper handling and care of all animals within the shelter, including dogs and cats. Implement and oversee dog training programs to enhance adoptability and behavior. Maintain accurate records of animal health, behavior assessments, and adoption statistics. Process all animal intakes, transfers, applications, etc. through shelter software program. Facilitate communication with veterinary professionals regarding animal health needs. Coordinate vet appointments – organize transport. Provide excellent customer service by assisting potential adopters with inquiries and guiding them through the adoption process. Organize community outreach programs to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and shelter policies. Qualifications Experience in dog handling is highly desirable. Background in animal handling or veterinary care is preferred. Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with the public. Knowledge of kennel operations and animal management is a plus. Familiarity with animal restraint techniques is beneficial. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment while maintaining attention to detail. A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their welfare. Full-time Pay:

$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
