Job Description

Health & Human Services Specialist – FSU Young Parents Project 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Tallahassee, FL Department Center for Prevention and Early Intervention Policy Responsibilities Serves as a point of contact regarding all project contract guidelines and compliance requirements. Takes the lead in coordination and writing of grants and serves as liaison with funders. Prepares and organizes project materials, information for audits, and records to meet contractual and compliance deadlines. Writes and edits publications, contracts, flyers, letters, clinical forms, PowerPoint presentations, and other documentation in collaboration with the Project Director. Collaborates with the FSU Center’s fiscal and technology departments to maintain inventory of professional and participant materials, supplies, and technology equipment. Compiles and submits orders and processes deliveries as needed for project operation. Utilizes budget deadlines to consider when orders must be submitted. Reviews and approves staff travel according to University travel guidelines, addressing any questions to the Project Director. Provides a second level of review for Human Resource documents to ensure compliance with contract requirements. Contributes to the project’s data management initiative and ensures that data is reported to funders in a timely manner. Collaborates with the Project Director and Site Coordinators to draft, edit, and format report documents. Understands and contributes to the writing and documentation process as needed. Ensures final review of key documents by Project Director. Provides leadership for the Young Parents Project Fatherhood Initiative. Works with a professional team to engage fathers as critical participants in the healthy development of their children through on-going communication, coordination of services, and weekly team meetings. Engages in reflective supervision to discuss cases and plan intervention strategies based on the Minding the Baby® model. Focuses on the experiences of young fathers and the data/reporting requirements of program funders. Utilizes an Infant Mental Health framework to conduct home visits and community outreach for young fathers enrolled as project participants. Addresses concrete needs and offers support in developing life skills by helping them establish goals, maintain healthy relationships, use community services, and reduce court-involvement. Prepares court reports and attends court hearings to share critical information to include updates about project participation, risk and protective factors, parental responsiveness to the young child, and trauma-related issues. Promotes the ongoing program participation of young fathers involved in the court system. Provides ongoing assessment for teen fathers at key data points using professional observation and standardized instruments. Facilitates referrals for young fathers related to community agencies addressing complex needs to include trauma-related services, Part C/Early Intervention services, and mandatory reporting to the abuse registry as required by law. Attends recommended trainings to increase knowledge, skills, and abilities. Shares lessons learned from a University program in working with teen fathers and their children. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (

a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.) A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or the ability to obtain prior to hire. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in social work or closely related field. Experience working with fathers through community outreach. This position requires transporting project participants and their children in their personal vehicles to essential community services/appointments.
