Description:

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in recruiting, coordinating and supervising all patient care volunteer activities within the organization. This position serves as a key member of the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG), facilitating communication and collaboration between staff, community members, and volunteers.

Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate all aspects of the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of volunteers. Develop and implement volunteer training programs to ensure volunteers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to support patients and families effectively. Actively engage with community resources to expand volunteer opportunities and partnerships. Serve as a liaison between volunteers, staff, patients, and families to ensure seamless coordination of volunteer services with patient care plans. Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities, including hours worked and assignments completed. Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise during their service. Collaborate with other members of the IDG to integrate volunteer services into patient care plans effectively. Participate in regular meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practices in volunteer coordination and patient care. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures related to volunteer services. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one (1) year experience in volunteer coordination, preferably in a hospice. Strong demonstrated capabilities in networking with community resources and a solid understanding of available resources. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage volunteer programs effectively. Program development and implementation skills to enhance the volunteer experience and meet organizational goals. Ability to present a positive and professional image when interacting with clients, families, and other agencies. Bilingual proficiency is preferred. Previous experience in a healthcare or social services setting is advantageous. Proficiency in telephone and computer skills. Mobile Driver – Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policy. Ability to travel within the community and take initiative to work independently.
