Genesis Hopeful Haven provides housing and support services to former foster youth ages 18+. Genesis Hopeful Haven (GHH) was founded in 2014 to support aged-out foster youth who were transitioning into adulthood without stable housing or family connections. We serve youth ages 15-25, providing safe homes, life skills training, education support, career coaching, and family mentorship. We anticipate serving up to 32 youth across our 7 homes by the end of 2026. And we are growing! Over the past decade, GHH has helped more than 1,000 young people build independent, thriving futures. WHAT IS THE ROLE?

Our Lead Housing Specialist is responsible for directly ensuring that residents in 6 of the 8 homes have the structure, support, and safe environment needed to reach their goals and to eventually live independently. To do this, the Lead Housing Specialist provides individualized support to participants focusing on increasing academic achievement, financial literacy, acquiring and maintaining employment, meeting program expectations and maintaining housing. The Lead Housing Specialist develops a life skills case plan for former foster youth and oversees implementation of the service plan. The Lead Housing Specialist will also work closely with a future part-time Housing Specialist (TBD), who will eventually be responsible for providing resident support for 2 of the 6 Lead Housing Specialists’ homes and for operational support. This is a full-time role, based in the Cutler Bay, Kendall, Homestead, Palmetto Bay and Colonial, FL areas and will report to the CEO/President of Genesis Hopeful Haven. The salary for this role will be between $50,000.00-$55,000.00US based on experience. This role is a 100% in-person position, with a majority of the time being spent in the field. This role will also eventually collaborate closely with the part-time Housing Specialist and a current Housing Assistant. How You Will Spend Your Time The person in the role will spend their time across three main areas, which are listed below. And while we have provided estimates for time allocations, they might shift with the needs and cycle of work at GHH. Resident Support (~75%) Provide coordination of case management services to youth in the transitional living program and additional clients and building relationships with Agency caseworkers for referrals, as needed Conduct assessments with clients to determine goals, barriers, resources needed and other factors related to case planning, acting as a broker for services and referring them to community resources when necessary Consistently conducts home visits, at least 3 days each week, visiting with all residents during that time. Engage in consistent high-quality interactions with residents, meeting with each 1:1 for at least one hour each week Provide necessary transportation according to availability in rare instances when driver is not available Provide on-going monitoring and reporting of participants’ progress Provide on-going independent living skills instructions in a one-on-one setting (cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, time management, opening bank accounts, job applications, etc.) Operations (~5%) Meet with business owners for employment placement Attend and contribute to appropriate weekly case reviews Keep updated records of all interactions with clients and any other contacts made on their behalf Monitor grades and school attendance, e.g. tutor referrals, school advocacy, FAFSA support, registering for school, etc. Organizational Stewardship (~20%) Preserve the integrity of the programs and Agency Demonstrate commitment to the GHH mission and vision Support overall growth through spreading the word about the organization Maintain positive and healthy relationship with co-workers and collaborators Actively participate on the case management team Assist with planning birthdays and holiday celebration events for residents Create a safe, respectful, and healthy atmosphere and environment where everyone can grow and learn Participate in special projects as necessary Attend all meetings and trainings as required Participate in Genesis Hopeful Haven Community Engagement Events Recommend changes when necessary for the betterment of the Agency

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

We are seeking candidates with the following professional background: A degree in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Development or related field preferred Meaningful experience working with homeless youth, foster youth community or youth who have faced significant trauma and barriers Experience completing assessments, e.g. progress notes, contact notes, etc. Experience creating goal/treatment plans

High level of self-awareness and ability to work effectively with and relate to diverse populations Exceptional professional maturity, managing emotions and perspectives appropriately Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for client advocacy Strong communication skills and experience, particularly with difficult conversations Ability to work independently Outstanding decision-making Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize, coordinate, track and complete multiple tasks as well as adjust to changing priorities Knowledge of child welfare systems, public and federal assistance programs, community resources High level of attention to detail Desire to continuously learn for personal and professional growth High level of integrity, including ability to protect and maintain confidentiality Computer application proficiency, including Google Docs, Google Keeps and G-Mail Clean driving record and access to reliable vehicle as well as ability to maintain good driving record and insurance levels as directed by GHH to fulfill job duties that require travel into the community No criminal background Ability to be flexible in scheduling We believe it is helpful to share our general idea of the profile of a person who might be competitive for this role, which you have seen above.
