May 24, 2025 categories The Youth Outreach and Engagement Specialist is a member of the Thrive by Hope team responsible for providing consistent and ongoing engagement to unsheltered young adults in the City of Atlanta, & Fulton counties that are currently experiencing homelessness. They will be the first point of contact for young adults and will assist in finding unsheltered youth who are not yet connected to housing resources. They will conduct street outreach, plan and attend youth outreach events, visit dropin centers, shelters and work with Hope thru Soap’s outreach team. The YOES is responsible for relationship building, developing trust with clients and offering options to youth to engage with the housing response system, provide resources to vulnerable youth living on the streets or in unsafe environments, connect to emergency shelter if desired, and connect to diversion services if desired. The YOES ensures that the youth experiencing homelessness will have a seamless pathway to access resources in our community to meet their wholistic needs of housing, dream preparation, and wellbeing. They share in the goal to make housing rare, brief, and nonrecurring for youth in our community who encounter homelessness and are seeking an intervention to exit and provide support to clients who need additional supports accessing behavioral health treatment, addiction treatment, and other services. Target population is Youth 1824 in a Housing Crisis that are literally homeless, have an imminent risk of homelessness and/or fleeing from domestic violence. The YOES will complete VISPDAT in HMIS. Increased Youth Outreach Services decreases the amount of time youth remain unsheltered and out of the system. The YOES will promote Youth Choice, support Positive Youth Development and TraumaInformed Care, support Social and Community Integration, and Housing First. Targeted Outcomes are stable shelter, housing, permanent connections to services, education/employment and social emotional wellbeing. We will be serving 60 youth households. At least two years of experience working in a capacity of outreach or similar role working with youth experiencing homelessness. Youth with lived experience of homelessness is preferred for this role but not required. Spanish Speaking Bilingual is preferred but not required. Excellent communication skills to ensure participants have a good experience.

  • Must be able to work some evening or weekend hours if needed. Travel around the City of Atlanta, Fulton, Clayton and Gwinnett will be required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using systems and tools such as Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom.

  • Ability to seek guidance when necessary and provide insight, guidance and support in client interaction and program requirements.
