Part-Time Job Summary:

The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, supervision, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role ensures that volunteers are appropriately integrated into the interdisciplinary team (IDG) and that hospice patients and families receive quality support services. This position requires the use of the Homecare Homebase (HCHB) electronic health record system and regular travel throughout the 13 counties served by the hospice agency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruit, screen, and train new hospice volunteers in accordance with hospice policy and CMS requirements. Maintain compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation related to volunteer program operations. Match volunteers to patient and family needs based on skills, availability, and preferences. Coordinate volunteer schedules and ensure coverage of patient and administrative support needs. Conduct regular check-ins, supervision, and recognition of hospice volunteers. Document all volunteer hours, assignments, and activities accurately in HCHB. Participate in IDG meetings and provide volunteer service updates to the team. Maintain a volunteer file system and ensure all required documentation is current. Track and report volunteer contributions to meet the minimum 5% requirement for Medicare compliance. Provide ongoing education and support to ensure volunteers uphold hospice standards. Travel throughout all 13 counties served by the hospice to supervise and support volunteers as needed. Sales Team Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field preferred. At least two (2) year’s of experience in hospice or volunteer management is preferred. Familiarity with CMS regulations for hospice volunteer programs. Proficiency in HCHB (Homecare Homebase) or similar clinical documentation system preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage a flexible part-time schedule.

Physical and Work Requirements:

Must be able to travel throughout all 13 counties served by the hospice agency. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance required. Ability to use mobile devices and chart in the field using HCHB or similar EHR system. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for training or special events.
