This vacancy is located in Caddo Parish Child Welfare Foster Care Unit.
The Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an employee eager to support the safe and successful outcomes for children and families. This applicant has a wonderful opportunity to gain significant work experience in a rewarding job with Child Welfare. The applicant would serve as a professional administrative support to the child welfare case worker. Additionally, duties of this position will require contact with children and/or agency clientele. The applicant is not required to have a background in the Child Welfare field but should possess genuine care, compassion and concern for supporting the mission of keeping children safe while helping families become self-sufficient.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in social services; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
EXAMPLES LISTED BELOW INCLUDE BRIEF SAMPLES OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. PLEASE NOTE THAT NOT ALL TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
The majority of job duties will include assessment, planning, servicing and maintaining Child Protective Services, Family Support, Foster Care, Adoption Petition and Home Development. The Team Specialist assists the child welfare specialists in gathering information for assessment of family functioning, typing court reports, legal documents, correspondence and forms and entering it into a tracking system. Team Specialists assist in supervising family and/or home visits, participate in case staffing/consultations, purchase items for foster children and deliver items to the home. In addition the team specialist will assist with case management, payment authorizations, purchases and research. This includes searches for relatives and appropriate placement of a child, tracking compliance with home visits/family team meetings, telephone correspondence with community partners and other agencies, researching policy, and performing clearances. The team specialist will perform computer functions including scanning, inputting information, completing referrals, opening/closing and making changes to case records, redacting confidential information, checking/sending email, and general assistance to the child welfare specialist. Team Specialists may also transport clients to and from appointments, attend relevant trainings and meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

$16.42 hourly (Pay Level SS-410)
The referenced position is also eligible for premium pay of up to $2.00 per hour for hours worked based on years of service within DCFS.
This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a classified permanent employee.
