First/Mid-Level Officials & Managers Job Summary The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the Volunteer Program. This position ensures a continuous volunteer cycle that aligns with LCM’s needs and recruits talented and qualified volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator oversees volunteer training, scheduling, evaluation, and recognition of Volunteers. The schedule for this position is Thursday – Saturday 9:00am-4:30 pm and Sunday 11:30 am- 4:30 pm; evening events as needed Supervisory Responsibilities Recruit, onboard, train, and coach Volunteers including minors. Conduct timely Performance Management. Responsibilities and Duties Promote the culture and brand of LCM Project a positive image of the organization to employees, volunteers, guests, and the community Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer program aligned with LCM’s mission, goals, and operational needs on an annual and ongoing basis Serve as the primary representative of the volunteer program, participating in community outreach and promotional activities Create and update policies, procedures, and guidelines for volunteer engagement, ensuring legal compliance, and alignment with organizational standards Recommend short and long-term goals for the volunteer program based on the strategic agenda and leadership direction of the organization, including recruitment, retention, and impact measurement strategies Develop and execute targeted recruitment campaigns to attract volunteers with skills that align with organizational needs Exercise judgment in screening, interviewing, and selecting volunteers to ensure a good fit with the organization’s culture and mission Create and deliver comprehensive onboarding and training programs tailored to specific volunteer roles Design volunteer roles and responsibilities, ensuring they meet programmatic needs while providing meaningful engagement for volunteers Plan and oversee volunteer involvement in special events, including determining volunteer roles, managing logistics, and evaluating outcomes Handle sensitive volunteer-related issues including conflicts or grievances, with independence and discretion Effectively and consistently communicate performance issues to minor volunteer caregivers Design and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives to maintain engagement with and morale Develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program, including tracking hours, assessing satisfaction, and measuring organizational impact Track relevant data and submit monthly to Community Engagement Manager to be used in preparation of detailed reports for leadership, highlighting program achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement Assist Community Engagement Director and Manager as directed with cultivation of relationships with community organizations, schools, and businesses to create pipelines for volunteer recruitment and collaboration Consistently evaluate and implement process improvement for the Volunteer Program Coordinate with the Impact Area Directors, Museum Experience Director, Museum Experience Manager, and Group Experience Supervisor – any performer or group that is not receiving financial compensation should complete proper paperwork so hours and times donated can be properly tracked and recorded Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree At least 1 year of Volunteer Manager or Human Resources experience, preferred At least 1 year of supervisory experience, preferred Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, organizational, analytical, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
