Youth Support Specialist – Gun Violence Prevention Program New North Citizen’s Council, Inc. (NNCC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Support Specialist to join our Gun Violence Prevention Program. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, you will work directly with youth, parents, schools, and community agencies to prevent youth violence through outreach, education, assessment, and intervention services. This role fosters relationships between young people and community organizations, social services, workforce providers, and public agencies to create opportunities for Springfield youth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct street prevention education, outreach, intervention services, and case management to youth ages 17-24. Greet and screen clients seeking services. Maintain program record-keeping with daily service logs and reports. Assist youth in accessing community services such as counseling, tutoring, mentoring, vocational training, and substance misuse services. Conduct social service assessments, link youth to needed services, and support positive change. Gather and analyze data to evaluate and adjust programs as needed. Participate in collaborative meetings and committees to benefit at-risk youth. Attend training sessions (e.g., Trauma, Youth Development, Motivational Interviewing). Travel to multiple sites to provide services and attend meetings. Implement other projects, activities, or job duties as assigned. Drive frequently for program business. Maintain flexibility with availability (schedule will vary).
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required; AA, BA, or some college preferred. Experience in community programs, facilitating groups, public speaking, and prevention. Coursework or training in community health work, violence prevention, youth development, substance abuse, or case management. Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurance. Bachelor’s Degree and Certified Alcohol/Addiction Counselor preferred. 1+ years of work experience with adolescents. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and Bi-Cultural preferred. PAY –
Nonexempt:
$18.00-$21.00 per hour (depending on experience)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, parents, and employees. Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
