Housing Coordinator – Homeless Veteran Program Tunnel To Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our veterans. The Foundation is seeking an experienced Housing Coordinator to source and develop relationships with national property owners, landlords, and real estate Company’s willing to provide housing to Veterans. The Housing Coordinator will also be responsible for sourcing and presenting new viable renovation and construction properties that would be used to provide both permanent and transitional housing accommodations in key metro areas. Applicants must be well organized, have the ability to effectively multi-task within a timely fashion, possess a keen attention to detail, prioritize multiple projects and workload, and handle sensitive information. Duties and responsibilities Develop and cultivate relationships with national resources of landlords, property owners, and real estate agencies willing to house Veterans with and without housing vouchers. Locate hospitality properties and raw land for new construction opportunities based on specific acquisition criteria. Identify locations within key metro areas where projects are most viable, knowledge of zoning, land use, and working with building departments preferred. Conduct housing intakes and assessments with Veterans referred from the Case management to assess housing needs and preferences. Assist participants in completing landlord and property management housing applications, including helping to secure needed documentation. Advocate on behalf of the participants with landlords and brokers to overcome any issues or challenges to securing suitable housing Assist clients with referrals and applications for housing vouchers including
HUD VASH.
Section 8, etc. Develop relationships and key points of contacts for local Public Housing Authorities nationwide. Complete virtual housing inspections to ensure all housing accommodations are safe and well maintained for any potential tenants. Qualifications Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience. Real estate experience and license preferred. Experience in social and economic problems related to housing needs for those in a lower income range. Experience working with city and federal housing vouchers and Public Housing Authorities. Some understating of low income tax credit programs (LITC). Strong knowledge of financial, logistical, and operational advantages and disadvantages as it relates to real estate acquisition. Demonstrated knowledge of challenges faced by special populations, including mental health disabilities, low income, and homelessness; experience working in a multi-racial, low-income community preferred. Knowledge of government funding strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Google sheets, etc. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal relationship skills. Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently in fast paced environment and multi-task in a smart and timely fashion.
