Job Description
The mission of CPARC is to empower, inspire and educate people with intellectual and development disabilities, their families and the community. We depend on compassionate and dedicated staff to help them achieve our mission. CPARC is hiring a part-time Disability Outreach Specialist to provide training, resources and social events to individuals with intellectual disabilities, family members, and community members. The Disability Outreach Specialist will assist them in gaining the most appropriate services and developing skills to advocate for their family member or for themselves. Other duties of the Disability Outreach Specialist include: Provides resources and information to families and individuals that will assist them in understanding and accessing services by attending local community events, group email communication, administering and updating Parent Facebook page, and referring families to appropriate agencies. Provides resources and information to community members and agencies by attending local community events, implementing CPARC Select training to local businesses/groups, and group email communication. Participates in county committees and initiatives as assigned that may include: Fetal Alcohol Prevention, Employment 1st, and Community Link. Assists in facilitating educational and social opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities such as The Healthy Relationships Curriculum, CPARC Dances, and other opportunities as assigned. Updates and maintains mailing lists for outreach and legislative alerts. Assists interested parents in establishing support groups as appropriate. Acts as a resource to existing support groups. Salary and Benefits $16.69 per hour working 25 hours per week.

Mostly daytime hours with some evening hours required for trainings. Job Requirements A minimum of a High School Diploma and 3 years of experience in a human services field; or an Associate’s degree in a human services field and 1 year of experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, be computer literate and have ability to present information effectively to a variety of audiences. Experience and knowledge of the intellectual disabilities service system and local resources is preferred. A current Pennsylvania driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle is required.
