We are seeking a mature individual to serve as a house parent to international students and student athletes on Hilton Head Island. Being a house parent is a unique job that is not for everyone, but it is extremely rewarding if you are passionate about caring for youth. Each house parent lives in a single family dwelling with 5-7 students who can range in age from 14 to 19. A house parent is responsible for maintaining a pleasant and fully operational household. They are responsible for providing compassion, supervision, and discipline to students in their care while encouraging them to strive for their best in academics and athletics. A daily schedule would include cooking, cleaning, and transporting students to activities. We are looking for someone who can manage teenagers by earning their respect, showing interest in their daily life, and providing appropriate consequences when needed. Ultimately we seek an individual who can provide a loving and nurturing environment for our students.

Requirements:

Applicants must speak English fluently Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license Applicants must have adequate cooking skills in addition to basic food preparation and hygienic cleaning practices Proficient technology skills are required as the students will mainly communicate via text message The ability to pass a background check A typical weekday schedule is as follows: 6:30am: House Parent serves breakfast to students House Parent performs household chores to include: breakfast dishes and cleanup of all common areas House Parent performs room inspections to confirm that beds are made, rooms are tidy, there is no cups/plates/food in rooms, and all lights/fans are off 8:30-5:00pm: House parents are off during these hours except for on-call day during the week and an occasional on-call weekends 5:00pm: House Parent must return to campus and begin dinner preparation in order to serve dinner at 6:30pm. Ensure that students are following appropriate study hour guidelines and maintaining their curfew We are seeking a single individual and not a family or couple.
