GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking (CCAHT) unites and equips our community•Knoxville and the 33 counties of East Tennessee•to end human trafficking through prevention and intervention, while providing survivors with trauma-informed, comprehensive aftercare services. Through our direct services program, Grow Free TN, we offer a variety of services to those impacted by human trafficking. All of our services are free, individualized, and all-inclusive. Through the Tennessee Counter-Trafficking Alliance, CCAHT serves as the single point of contact partner for the East Tennessee region. At CCAHT, we choose love first. When it comes to the clients we serve, we understand that healing takes time. Each client’s needs and journey toward restoration will be different, which is why our aftercare programming is survivor-centered and grounded in industry best practices and research. We know that it takes people to serve people, and we are seeking passionate, qualified individuals to join our team as we work to empower survivors and foster positive change in East Tennessee.

POSITION

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Youth Services, the Youth Prevention Specialist works as part of the youth care team to provide early assessment and response for minor individuals through age 17 identified as high risk for exploitation or trafficking. The Youth Prevention Specialist engages in short-term strategies and provision of psychoeducation to facilitate harm reduction, particularly including the use of designated intervention curricula that can be facilitated in both the individual and group setting. The Youth Prevention Specialist works alongside caregivers, systems of care providers, and the youth client to ensure access to appropriate supports that enhance stability and improve outcomes for the youth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Acts as initial point of contact for youth referrals designated as high risk assigned to caseload Facilitates early intervention criteria and engages youth in active exploration of healthy relationships, high risk behaviors, and recognition of exploitation Provides linkage and referral to youth clients assigned to caseload and their families, including both internal and external resource referral, as appropriate Actively engages as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure youth clients receive wraparound care and support Provides consistent psychoeducation and knowledge of community resources to clients and their support systems Acts as a strong advocate for youth’s preferences and best interests, ensuring youth voice is represented and validated Incorporates industry knowledge and practice intuition to assess for undisclosed indicators of trafficking Maximizes accessibility of services by traveling throughout a large service region and proctoring services in a variety of settings, including; client homes, group homes, juvenile detention facilities, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

BSSW or equivalency in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university (or ability to demonstrate competency through relevant experience and unique skill set) Minimum 1-year of relevant experience working with vulnerable youth Sensitivity to sexual exploitation and victimization, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, and other similar victim experiences Preference given to individuals with experience facilitating curricula in both group and individual settings Ability and willingness to work irregular hours and in atypical work setting environments Valid Driver’s license and access to personal transportation Successful completion of criminal background checks and motor vehicle records Commitment to a drug free workplace

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to administer designated curricula with the ability to adapt and modify as needed to meet the specific needs of the youth or group setting Ability to work effectively with a broad range of constituents, including child welfare professionals, juvenile justice or law enforcement, biological and foster parents, academic institutions, etc. Ability to easily build rapport and genuinely engage with youth through age 17 Approaches client care with unconditional support and personifies the

empowerment-based relational model Ability and willingness to provide services in flexible locations and circumstances Broad, working knowledge of community supports and resources Experience navigating client database software utilizing accurate and timely record-keeping Proficient in utilizing video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet) and video presentation tools to facilitate remote collaboration, virtual meetings, and professional presentations Commitment to ongoing professional development opportunities and keeping abreast of current research trends, best practices, and industry applications
