Full Job Description Summary:
Provide youth support and supervision during the shift, Fridays 7am to 3pm, Saturdays 12pm to 8pm & Sundays 3pm to 11pm. Supervise resident youth at all times during the evening hours. This position supports the team in the cultural activities, mentoring opportunities and other connections with the community. Position Requirements Provides assistance to residents in developing daily living skills as required to support independence. Provide mentorship and support to young adults in the Transitional Living Program during overnight shifts. Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and conflict resolution. Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by adhering to CPR and First Aid protocols. Facilitate engaging activities that encourage personal growth and development. Maintain accurate records of participants progress and communicate effectively with team members. Communicates regularly (through logbook, memos, communication board, and orally) with each resident’s primary youth coach on the day shift to support a team approach assisting residents in attaining treatment plan goals and objectives. Adheres to staff schedule, attends scheduled staff meetings, and participates in staff development. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent GED. Associates degree in social work, human services or related field preferred. Demonstrated personal skills and maturity necessary for effective teamwork and commitment to recognizing the uniqueness and optimum potential of each individual resident. Minimum two years experience with adolescents or in a day care facility. Must have had Mandated Reporter Training; crisis management training, including de-escalation and behavioral Intervention Techniques and effective limit setting. Current valid Connecticut driver’s license and proof of insurance. Reliable transportation. Current valid adult and child CPR and first aid, and DCF Medical Administration Certification. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Understanding of mental health issues, de-escalation techniques, and positive behavioral management techniques of adolescents.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The position requires driving, walking, climbing stairs, standing, bending and ability to lift 30 lbs. The work environment involves the normal risks associated with these activities as well as discomforts typical of a community-based organization.
