This is a seasonal position that will require living on site at Mah-Kah-Wee and/or Riverpoint Program Centers from Sunday through Friday as assigned. This position is directly responsible for the care and well-being of campers during their stay. Everyone in this position will be required to attend and participate in pre-camp training, set up and clean up weeks.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and fun environment, that supports the overall well-being, health and safety of all campers and staff always. Comply with and adhere to all guidelines set forth by Girl Scouts of Citrus Council. Guide activities and experiences through girl led planning and the Girl Scout Program. Ensure camper safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being. Facilitate camper mediation for confrontation and seek administrative help as needed. Lead and supervise campers, organize and facilitate activities for large and small groups. Respect wildlife, be an environmental steward, and ensure proper care of camp equipment. Participate and attend all camp events, staff meetings, and other activities. Ability to observe and assess camper behavior and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Be a role model; maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all staff. Complete and submit all required paperwork and reports as directed. Complete all assigned training modules prior to arrival, as well as one week of pre-camp training. Other duties as assigned by the Outdoor Program Manager.

Qualifications & Education:

Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. Successful clearance of a Level 2 Criminal Background Screening, the National Sexual Offender Public Website and completion of GSUSA Girl Scouts Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Course Have previous experience working with youth in a group or camp setting. Understanding of the Girl Scout Organization, National Program Portfolio, and a willingness to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers and carry out all program requirements. A willingness to live, work and sleep in a community environment within an outdoor setting. The ability to work for long hours standing, walking, and/or sitting while being exposed to the sun, heat, wildlife, and varying weather conditions daily. Have a current GSUSA membership or be willing to obtain one prior to beginning work. Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR. Must submit a current Health Examination signed by a medical professional prior to the first day of pre-camp.
