Weekdays, hours may vary 7:00am-6:00pm | Seasonal Job Summary The Summer Youth Development Professional (YDP) is a mission-driven team member who creates a safe, supportive, and fun environment for youth ages 5-18. This role is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate programs that promote positive youth development. YDPs build meaningful relationships with Club members and help create a summer full of learning, laughter, and growth. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and lead creative, engaging, and fun activities that support the physical, social, and emotional development of youth.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all members by maintaining active supervision and awareness of surroundings at all times.
- Promote an inclusive, respectful, and positive environment aligned with the Boys & Girls Club values.
- Assist in the development and delivery of programs in areas such as recreation, arts, academic enrichment.
- Monitor and guide youth behavior, using positive reinforcement and appropriate discipline strategies.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and proper use of program supplies and spaces.
- Provide first aid and respond to emergency situations as needed, documenting incidents per Club procedures.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to Club members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support Club operations. Experience & Qualifications
- Experience — One-year experience in the relevant working environment, preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in youth development, education, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with children or teens in a group setting is preferred.
- Must enjoy working with youth and possess a friendly, engaging personality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be adaptable, energetic, and committed to creating a fun and safe summer experience.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and actively participate in physical activities. Additional Qualifications
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- CPR, AED and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
