Adoption Support Counselor Camelot Community Care Inc – 2.9 Tampa, FL Job Details Full-time $50,000 a year 16 hours ago Benefits Adoption assistance Qualifications Mid-level Master’s degree Supervising experience Experience with children Teaching Full Job Description The Adoption Support Counselor is a clinical position which supports Hillsborough County adoptive families through utilizing in-home family therapy, group therapy, and/or crisis intervention techniques. The Counselor will also help to maintain community support groups for the adoptive families. The Counselor will serve as an intricate member of the team; bringing a therapeutic, adoption competent perspective to the team. The position provides the opportunity to be trained in Adoption Competency, Trust Based Relational Intervention, and become a Certified Trauma Professional.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Adoption Support Counselor will provide oversight and clinical support to the program. Other duties may be assigned. Aid in reaching out to adoptive families in service area. Maintain peer support group and provide guidance for adoptive families/adoptive parents. Provide therapeutic services to adoptive families to address issues of past trauma, separation, identify confusion and the effects of these issues on the adoption family. Co-train during virtual support groups. Provide crisis response services to clinical families on caseload. Provide information, referrals and linkage to community services for adoptive families, including Medicaid, Education, and Social Security. Assist adoptive parents regarding loss and attachment issues, permanency planning and services. Aid in tracking of adoptive family information. Master’s degree in a Human Service discipline from four-year accredited college or university and experience working with children/adolescents in a therapeutic treatment environment and in compliance with State or contractual requirements. One to two years of experience working with foster and adoptive families or supervisory experience, training or teaching preferred.
