JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing the curriculum and instructing progressive specialty enrichment classes with a specific skill to be taught. This position is responsible for an intensive literacy program called
YREADS. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Must demonstrate the ability to develop and teach a safe and effective class. Must be certified in or have enough prior experience to teach advanced level in specialty, HR approval required. Service with CARE. Within 90 days of hire,
Preventing Sexual Abuse Between Young Children, Principles of Youth Development, Youth Relationships:
Creating Positive Interactions, and Youth Affirmations:
Distinguishing Between Praise and Encouragement trainings required. Within 6 months of hire, Introduction to S.A.F.E., Foundations of Listen First, and Engaging with Families trainings required. Get SMART, CPR/AED and First Aid preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
Must be able to articulate and communicate effectively while instructing participants. Must have a positive attitude and ability to work independently.
PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability and patience to instruct classes while using effective communication and human relation skills. Must have the ability to conduct, demonstrate and safely lead a classroom of adults and/or children. Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs.
JOB DUTIES
1. Follows the YMCA of the USA teaching guidelines. 2. Responsible for providing and implementing instructional content of class. 3. Create a nurturing safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment. 4. Takes responsibility for certain housekeeping duties 5. Exercises sound judgment in relationship to class safety. Follows all emergency procedures 6. Engages in positive public relations with members 7. Attend all staff meetings, in-house trainings, demonstrations and special promotions as designated by supervisor. 7.
Other Duties:
a) Performs all other duties as assigned b) Reports all serious incidents
