Summer Camp Counselor Terrebonne Parish recreation District 11 800 Williams Avenue, Houma, LA 70364 Overview We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our team for an exciting summer camp experience. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children. You will be responsible for leading activities, providing guidance, and fostering personal growth among campers. This position requires a passion for working with children and the ability to inspire and motivate them throughout their camp experience. Duties Supervise and ensure the safety of campers during all activities. Plan, organize, and lead engaging activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, and outdoor adventures. Foster positive relationships with campers by providing support and encouragement. Assist in the development of camper skills through various educational and recreational programs. Maintain a clean and organized camp environment. Communicate effectively with parents regarding camper progress and any concerns. Collaborate with fellow counselors to create a cohesive team atmosphere. Implement behavior management strategies to ensure a respectful and inclusive environment. Qualifications Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, tutoring, or classroom management is preferred. Knowledge of childhood development principles is highly desirable. Background in special education or early childhood education is a plus. Familiarity with Christian counseling practices is beneficial but not required. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with children and staff alike. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership qualities.
