Position Summary:
Youth Activities Counselors are responsible for planning, organizing, and leading engaging activities and programs for children and young adults at North Ridge Country Club. This role involves ensuring a safe, fun, and educational environment for all participants, while fostering positive relationships with youth, their families, and other staff members. Youth Activities Counselors will work to develop a supportive atmosphere that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and creativity through a variety of structured programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning & Delivery :
Plan, organize, and lead a variety of age-appropriate activities, games, and events for youth participants. Design creative, educational, and recreational programs that promote social development, teamwork, and physical activity. Lead and supervise groups of children in both structured and free-time activities, ensuring that all participants are engaged and safe. Adapt activities to the needs and abilities of participants, making sure that everyone can participate in a meaningful way.
Supervision & Safety :
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your supervision at all times. Enforce safety guidelines and procedures, including those related to behavior, equipment use, and emergency response. Monitor behavior and provide guidance on conflict resolution, teamwork, and positive social interactions. Be alert to signs of distress or discomfort among youth, intervening when necessary to address concerns and provide support.
Communication & Relationship Building :
Build positive relationships with children, ensuring they feel comfortable, valued, and understood. Communicate with (members) parents or guardians regularly about their child’s progress, behavior, and participation in activities. Work closely with other counselors and staff to coordinate activities, share insights, and support the overall success of youth programs.
Facility Maintenance & Cleanliness :
Help maintain a clean and organized activity area, including setting up and cleaning up before and after programs. Ensure that all equipment used for activities is in good condition and properly stored. Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor in a timely manner. Take out trash and sanitize freeplay materials
Team Collaboration :
Work as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of all youth programs and events. Participate in regular team meetings and trainings, contributing to discussions on how to improve programming and enhance the experience for youth participants. Assist other counselors and staff with their responsibilities as needed, fostering a cooperative and supportive work environment.

Qualifications :
Experience :
Experience working with children or youth in a recreational, educational, or camp setting is highly desirable. Previous experience leading or supervising activities, including games, arts and crafts, sports, or group events, is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to children and build positive relationships. Ability to be a positive role model, demonstrating good behavior, respect, and responsibility. Enthusiastic, energetic, and patient, with a passion for working with youth. Ability to handle various group dynamics, problem-solve, and manage challenging behavior with professionalism and calm. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a busy, active environment.
Certifications:
First Aid and CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and participate in physical activities for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., equipment or supplies) and participate in active games or events. Comfortable working outdoors or in varying weather conditions for outdoor activities. Must be able to swim proficiently
Working Conditions:
Work will be performed primarily in outdoor settings or recreational facilities. The position may require working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays depending on program schedules. May involve working with children of varying ages, abilities, and personalities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
