Certified Peer Recovery Advocate•Opioid Treatment Program Nassau County Department of Human Services 2201 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY 11554 Nassau County Department of Human Services is seeking a candidate for a full-time Certified Peer Recovery Advocate
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
•Must have resided in Nassau County for one year prior to date of hire. Schedule•Monday to Friday 5:45am to 1:45pm
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Provides non-clinical peer support services as prescribed by a substance abuse treatment or recovery plan; performs related duties as described.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Provides non-clinical peer support services as prescribed by a substance abuse treatment or recovery plan. Models effective coping habits and demonstrates life skills for navigating recovery. Engages with clients, encourages cooperation in reporting for treatment and other healthcare services. Educates and connects clients with existing social and community recovery support services. Performs non-clinical crisis support, with particular emphasis following periods of hospitalization, incarceration, and other critical points in the recovery process. Assists clients in applying for eligible benefits and services and makes necessary referrals. Documents services provided and maintains records of client progress. Interacts with and educates various civic groups and community organizations to raise awareness of available support services, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school and continuing certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Advocate•Provisional (CRPA-P) or Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA) authorized by the New York State Certification Board and the Office of Addiction Services and Supports. Qualified individuals will be considered for interviews but must be enrolled in the training program as a Certified Peer Recovery Advocate•Provisional (CRPA-P) by date of hire. Salary Information Please note the Non-Negotiable starting salary for this position is $34,679. Salary increases to $39,430 after six months and then to $51,249 after one year based upon the current collective bargaining agreement. Top salary for Certified Peer Recovery Advocate position is $70,949 based upon years of service.
