Youth Residential Counselor 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 38 Seward Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940 A Friends House is Orange County’s only Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter. It is a temporary shelter where caring staff offer guidance and support to youth in crisis. We give youth the tools and support they need, in a safe and homelike environment, to manage their problems and re-connect with their family and community. We operate 13 beds and serve youth from infant – 17. Resident Counselors utilize the Positive Youth Development Approach to help mentor the youth. Youth Resident Counselor’s provide trauma informed, non-judgmental compassion, and care by listening to client’s concerns and providing non-directive counseling. As an Youth Resident Counselor , you are responsible for the safety and well-being of all youth in your charge.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

1. High School Diploma or GED. 2. Responsible for the safety and well-being of all youth in your charge. 3. Provides trauma informed, non-judgmental compassion, and care by listening to client’s concerns and providing non-directive counseling. Keeping all matters confidential and sharing only with those HONORehg employees who have a right to know and a need to know. 4. Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people. 5. Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with demonstrated passion for HONOR’s mission. 6. Must have and maintain a valid New York State driver’s license 7. Detail-oriented and have competent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities (friendly, courteous, helpful, ability to work as part of a team). 8. Bilingual preferred but not required. 4pm to 12am
