Youth Mentor (Community & Human Services) ($23/hr) 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars 11 University Way, Brattleboro, VT 05301 Hire bonus for Full-time is $500 after 90 days. Families First is seeking a Youth Mentor Specialist to work at our residential program Banyan House. This program houses up to 2 adolescents living with disabilities. Families First aims to provide a safe and nurturing apartment for these youth in DCF custody while they navigate adulthood and next steps. Staff will work as a team and use a trauma-informed positive regard to build a relationship with the youth they are working with. The youth will be supported during and after home/placement transitions to prevent multiple foster home placements. A thorough clinical assessment will take place during their stay. We are seeking experienced staff who are passionate about making the world a better place for marginalized youth. Knowledge or experience with behavioral support and crisis prevention is highly recommended. CPI training will be provided within the first year of employment. Proven record of being a team player, flexibility, and having a sense of humor are necessary! Comfort and experience with providing personal care (ADL’s, medication administration) is also recommended. Starting wage is $23 an hour + a $500 sign-on bonus for Full-time hires. There is a weekend shift differential of $2 dollars more an hour. This applies to shifts worked between Friday 7pm to Monday 7am.
Candidates must:
Have a Bachelor’s degree and some experience working with youth OR high school diploma/GED & two or more years experience working with youth. This may include but is not restricted to being a camp counselor, coach, teacher…. Be 21 years of age. Must have a reliable vehicle (registered and insured) and be able to pass a background check. Availability for fingerprinting.
Shifts available:
5 day shifts, 3 partial asleep overnights. One weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) may be required. Can be combined with a traditional DSP shifts to reach Full-Time hours.
