Russellville, AR Salary $37,190 Are you passionate about maintaining community standards and public safety? Do you enjoy investigative work, field inspections, and engaging with the public? The City of Russellville is seeking a dedicated Code Enforcement Officer I to help uphold the integrity and livability of our city through code compliance and public education.
Position Overview:
The Code Enforcement Officer I reports directly to the Senior Code Enforcement Officer . This position is responsible for investigating potential violations of City codes and ordinances, interacting with residents and property owners, and ensuring compliance through education and enforcement.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and document complaints regarding code violations. Conduct field investigations for zoning, signage, landscaping, and care-of-premises violations. Notify violators and conduct follow-up inspections to confirm compliance. Provide clear, courteous, and professional responses to public inquiries related to codes and ordinances. Maintain accurate case records, reports, and photographic documentation. Operate a city vehicle while conducting inspections. Prepare court documentation and testify as needed. Participate in community outreach, disaster preparedness efforts, and safety education.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. 19 to 23 months of experience in general construction or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, regulations, and maps. Proficiency with computers, tablets, and related software. Valid Arkansas Driver’s License required. Must obtain
ICC/AACE
Property Maintenance Housing Inspector certification within one year of hire.
