CODE ENFORCEMENT INSPECTOR CAP
Government, Inc. is looking for the immediate hire of a Code Enforcement Inspector in West Palm Beach. The hire will conduct mercial, residential, and industrial property inspections for pliance with City codes and ordinances for nuisance, signage, zoning, abandoned or inoperative vehicles and substandard housing conditions. This includes conducting thorough, on-site inspections of code violations relating to trash, debris, high grass and/or weeds, substandard housing conditions, inoperative/parked vehicles and munity property nuisances in general.
Responsibilities:
Enforces codes, in conformance with Florida Statutes and city ordinances by performing research and investigative work in determining extent of violation and non-pliance Issues Notices of Violation, Correction Notices, Stop Work Orders, Notices of Hearing, Notices of Compliance and Notices of Non-Compliance to the public and private sectors Photographs, videos, records or otherwise acquires evidence of violations for presentation as evidence in the judicial process. Investigates code violation plaints; issues appropriate notices, citations, and orders. Prepares and maintains reports and records regarding activities (i.e., case files, incident reports, warning tickets, citations, etc.); files reports on all cases worked. Works in conjunction with other departments in various pliance tasks (i.e., building codes, fire codes, county health and sanitation codes, public works, storm water, wetlands etc.) Ability to municate and negotiate effectively with diverse groups with varying skills and backgrounds. Performs planning related functions, as needed, to assist with daily operations. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment w team work is essential. Ads to work schedule and attendance requirements. Ads to all safety rules and regulations. Perform other related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; and 60 college credits that includes building and/or construction techniques. Two (2) years progressively responsible field experience, preferably in municipal code enforcement, and certified Level I is a plus! Any related bination of training and experience. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License, with good driving records.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Municipal Code of Ordinances, and the legal procedures for enforcement. Knowledge of municipal codes and inspection techniques. Knowledge of investigative procedures and documentation. Some knowledge of puters, office equipment and practices. Ability to read and interpret building and site plans, plats, maps and legal descriptions. Ability to conduct inspections, effectively municate orally and in writing, and follow professional protocols. Ability to interact with the public fairly and impartially, including but not limited to an adversarial environment. Ability to make accurate field measurements. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, departments, government officials, and the public. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
