General Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A COMMUNITY CAT COORDINATOR!

The Animal Services Coordinator/Community Cat is responsible for the Trap Neuter Vaccinate Return (TNVR) programming for Animal Services. This includes the Spay Neuter in Pasco (SNIP) TNVR program; scheduling of TNVR programming through the shelter clinic; TNVR pop-up clinic scheduling and coordination; and coordinating community requests for TNVR services. Will work with the CPAP Team for resource support including volunteer recruitment and training for positions such as transporter, trapper, and community cat assistants. Work closely with Animal Control for case management where TNVR is the primary resource need for a particular case. Develop relationships with TNVR rescues, local trappers, veterinary clinics, and community associations to coordinate support for the TNVR program. Will be the resource expert for the community through outreach, education and training to help Pasco County Animal Services (PCAS) in its belief that all cats deserve a chance at a positive outcome and a safe community in which to live, wherever they live. Essential Job Functions Coordinates the PCAS Community and Feral Cat Programs, including development, writing, and dissemination of policies and procedures.
Schedules and coordinates flow of cats, primarily community and feral cats, to and from the shelter or other veterinary clinics for services. Transports cats to and from shelter as required.
Monitors cat intakes and organize Returns to Community placement opportunities accordingly.
Creates and maintains records and internal lines of communication to track cat pathways.
Maintains accountability and controls of all PCAS Community Cat Program equipment, supplies, and vehicles.
Develops and maintains relationships with TNR partner organizations. Works with Veterinary Health team to coordinate TNR partner surgery schedule.
Recruits, trains, and manages Community Cat Program volunteers.
Works in conjunction with all other PCAS departments to appropriately serve community cats.
Works closely with the CPAP Manager for budgeting and other financial needs of the program.
Coordinates with the Administrative Assistant to ensure the SNIP program billing meets program goals and funding limits.
Creates and maintains Key Performance Indicators and other monthly statistics for the Data Dashboard.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs. and also push or pull heavy objects.
Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Considerable knowledge of shelter guidelines for standards of care in animal shelters. Extensive knowledge of animal husbandry, including humane methods of handling, sanitation, care, feeding, and behavioral assessment of animals. Knowledge of common animal diseases, zoonosis and species specific, and injury recognition and treatment. Knowledge of the operation of drugs, and related supplies for an animal sheltering facility. Knowledge of species and breeds of animals, both domestic and wild. Knowledge of common shelter programs such as adoptions, fostering, transfers to humane organizations and the promotion of these programs. Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions. Ability to prepare budget and statistical reports. Ability to deal effectively with the public during emotional or stressful situations and enforce high standards of customer service. Ability to present programs and recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form. Knowledge of managerial techniques with the ability to organize, coordinate, schedule and evaluate work efficiently. Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs. and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to work in a kennel/shelter setting and outdoors with frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, walking, and standing on feet for 8-10 hours per day.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

 Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and three (3) years’ experience in working in the animal welfare/shelter environment. Experience in animal shelter or veterinary medicine customer service preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

 Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Must complete the Community Cats Program Management Certification program within 6 months of hire.
