Supervise the Code Enforcement Officer Team. Work is characterized by considerable independence and responsibility to exercise initiative and carry all assignments through to completion. Under the general direction of the Code Enforcement Division Manager.

Significant engagement with the public (e.g., homeowners, business owners, contractors, HOA, etc.). •Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. •Additional compensation based on licensure.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Interprets and conducts inspections for compliance with adopted codes, ordinances, and state statues.

Acts as a resource, providing solutions regarding Code Related or potential Code violations. Delivers a high level of customer service to ensure timely and positive resolution. Mentors and provides guidance to Code Field Officers. Maintains accurate records of inspection activities and violations.

Investigate violations that deal with abatement of unsafe buildings, junk motor vehicles, signs, lot clearings, parking regulations, and other codes as assigned and needed.

Interacts with the public, County Staff, and regulatory agencies to accomplish objectives.

Prepares staff and reports regarding code issues including violations, code objectives, and proactive enforcement programs.

Works with external groups to educate and familiarize residents with relevant ordinances. Effectively communicate explanations and interpretations of standards and codes.

Enforces Rental Licenses, Lien Searches, Occupational License, Commercial Inspections, Housing Inspections, Zoning Code, IMPCConfers with other agencies and County departments on the disposition of a variety of complaints and code violations.

Participates in neighborhood watch meetings, community meetings and HOA meetings, etc. Analyzes, evaluates, and interprets all County codes; explains enforcement procedures to the public and provides information on land use and sign-related ordinances.

Assists in determining areas to be inspected; reviews and updates housing and other codes and assists with interpretations and decisions on technical problems related to housing and other codes.

Utilizes internet and GIS systems for data requests.

Monitors compliance activities and conducts follow-up and final inspections; prepares required notices and correspondence relative to non-compliance as required.

Prepares and presents case before the Code Enforcement Board, Special Magistrate and County Court.

Receives, investigates, and responds to complaints of possible violations of local and state laws, ordinances, or codes (i.e. neighborhood blight, zoning, water waste, signs, etc.).Responsible for training of new

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Must have experience managing multiple tasks, including but not limited to, providing guidance to and reviewing the work of a team of field officers (preferably 3 or more); preparing documentation for Code Enforcement cases; supervising and evaluating assigned staff. Work is performed under deadlines and requires attendance at public meetings and hearings, which may be held in the evening hours.

Must have a good working knowledge of all materials, equipment, methods, safety techniques, and regulatory requirements that may be required to complete all tasks.

Must have effective oral and written communication skills.

Must have ability to organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines.

Must have ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.

Must have ability to access file cabinets for filing, electronic equipment for data entry and retrieval of data.

Must have ability to follow directions both orally and in writing; communicate with fellow employees, supervisors, and customers of the County
