Animal Rescue Coordinator 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars 1251 Fulton Industrial Boulevard NW, Atlanta, GA 30336 Fulton County Animal Services is seeking a dedicated and passionate Rescue Coordinator with specialized skills in organizing and executing large-scale animal transports. This pivotal role involves managing the logistics, coordination, and execution of animal rescue efforts, particularly focusing on the transportation of animals to foster homes, rescue groups, or partnering facilities. RESPONSIBILITIES
Transportation Logistics:
Design and implement efficient transportation plans for moving animals from Fulton County Animal Services to designated locations, ensuring the safety and welfare of all animals during transit.
Collaboration and Partnerships:
Foster and maintain strong relationships with partnering shelters, volunteers, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless coordination and logistics for large-scale animal transfers.
Scheduling and Coordination:
Organize transport schedules, including arranging pick-up and drop-off times, locations, and necessary paperwork, while adhering to legal and safety regulations.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards for animal transportation, including vaccination records, health certificates, and transportation regulations across different regions or states.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of animal transfers, including health assessments, transportation logs, and any necessary documentation for each animal moved.
- Must be able to stay organized, keep spreadsheets and calendars up to date, create Health Certificates for animals going out of state, and be in charge of other administrative tasks.
Problem-solving:
Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during transport, such as unexpected delays, animal health concerns, or logistical hurdles.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive knowledge of dog and cat behavior, training and of animal breed recognition is also required.
- Ability to assess animal behavior.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – written and oral.
- Knowledge of animal welfare regulations, transport laws, and health standards pertaining to animal care during transportation is a plus.
- Compassion for animals and a commitment to the mission of animal rescue and welfare.
- Must be available to work on weekends.
- Must pass background check and drug screening.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of high school diploma and preferred experience in animal related field. Animal shelter, logistics, and organizational experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read and interpret policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively and provide good customer service skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written or verbal form and to follow those instructions correctly.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Unexpired driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to a kennel that is not air-conditioned and may be exposed to unpleasant kennel smells.

$37,000.00 – $40,000.00 per year
