Are you passionate about preserving the safety, beauty, and integrity of your community? Do you have an eye for detail, strong communication skills, and a desire to serve the public? The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a dedicated Code Enforcement Officer to join our Community Development Department. In this role, you’ll help ensure that our neighborhoods remain safe, clean, and livable by enforcing city codes related to zoning, housing, property maintenance, noise, and more. Whether you’re responding to complaints, inspecting properties, or collaborating with other city departments, your work will help protect the health, safety, and quality of life for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Enforce city ordinances related to zoning, housing, and property maintenance Inspect common areas in multi-family housing complexes Conduct routine and systematic property inspections Address citizen complaints and City Council requests professionally and promptly Prepare documentation for enforcement actions, including court summonses Collaborate with internal departments to ensure code compliance Attend neighborhood meetings to educate the public about city codes Testify in municipal court as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED For Code Officer I :

At least 6 months of experience in enforcement-related work

For Code Officer II :

Minimum of 2 years in code enforcement or related field Must obtain ICC Property and Housing Inspector Certification within 18 months Must obtain GA Association of Code Enforcement Level I Certification within 18 months Valid driver’s license and clean MVR Ability to pass a post-offer criminal background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Environmental Studies, Construction, or a related field Strong working knowledge of construction practices, code compliance, and conflict resolution Effective communication and public speaking skills Certification in Level 1B Soil and Erosion (or ability to obtain within 18 months) ICC Property and Housing Inspector Certification GA Association of Code Enforcement Level II Certification for Code Officer II 2-5 years of code enforcement experience (depending on position level) About Sandy Springs Sandy Springs is Georgia’s sixth-largest city, home to nearly 110,000 residents and a thriving business community.
