SUMMARY :
Perform general managerial/administrative duties in the Mediation and Diversion Department . Coordinate and administer court mediation services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:
EXPERIENCE
Four years of related experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in social work, law, or a closely related field.
CERTIFICATIONS
Certification in County, Dependency or Family Mediation preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
: Coordinate and administer court mediations to resolve issues between parties for court referred cases such as small claims, county civil, dependency and family court cases. Maintain accurate records of cases reviewed, cases mediated and mediation outcomes. Assist with team member duties, as needed. Serve as court liaison by responding to inquiries from the judiciary, court staff, attorneys and the public regarding mediation programs. Meet with the judiciary and court staff to assess program effectiveness and needs. Assist manager in varying capacities, to include recruiting, mentoring and training new staff and mediators, troubleshooting issues, attending meetings and events, gathering data, and coordinating mediator observations/co-mediations. Create and manage individual mediator dockets. Create opportunities for continuing mediator education programs for mediators, update programs and perform other administrative functions. Promote the services offered by Mediation and Diversion to the community. Assist with budget planning.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
: K nowledge of mediation, the rules of mediation and its function within the court system. Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. Knowledge of the rules of English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to be patient and interact effectively with the public. Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive information. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to plan and establish priorities for work assignments. Incumbent must be professional in all regards.
