Associate Director 5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars Knoxville, TN 37902 • Hybrid work Associate Director Full-Time | Community Mediation Center | Knoxville, TN Community Mediation Center (CMC) is seeking a highly organized, mission-driven Associate Director to support and strengthen our community-based conflict resolution programs. This leadership role combines hands-on program management, volunteer coordination, grant reporting, and strategic development. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on the community in East Tennessee.

About Us:

CMC provides free and low-cost mediation, training, and restorative justice programs in partnership with local courts, schools, government agencies, and community groups. We serve people from all walks of life and center our work in principles of empowerment, collaboration, and respect. Key Responsibilities Program Coordination & Volunteer Engagement Coordinate the CMC General Sessions Mediation Program, including but not limited to: Volunteer scheduling, court docket review, and weekly case prep Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer mediators—supporting scheduling, onboarding, observation, communication, and court access Maintain relationships with local judges, clerks, resource agencies, and law schools, coordinating student observation opportunities as-needed Help ensure mediation rooms and materials are fully stocked and ready to use Support ongoing volunteer development through mentoring, training, and Bridge Trainings for experienced Rule 31 mediators Administrative & Grant Responsibilities Manage intakes and scheduling for civil and community mediation cases Maintain case records, update data tracking systems, and monitor program outcomes Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly grant reports across all programs, including tracking demographics, invoice redactions, and financial data Assist with grant writing and development of new initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Director Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MSW, JD, or related field) preferred Experience working in nonprofits, social services, legal services, or mediation (required) Must be willing and able to become a listed Rule 31 mediator within one year of hire Familiarity with conflict resolution, housing stability, restorative justice, or access to justice (preferred) Previous training in mediation, facilitation, or conflict coaching (preferred) Strong skills for multi-tasking, deadlines, collaboration, and communication Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through Ability to work independently while supporting a team and volunteer network Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to represent CMC in community outreach, coalition meetings, and public presentations—with experience or interest in public speaking and group facilitation Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms), and Zoom (preferred), and comfortable learning new platforms and tools Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time, salaried position with potential salary between $50,000 and $55,000.
