Position Title:
Public Information Clerk (Jail) General Description of Duties Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform a variety of administrative and clerical task for the Sheriff’s Office. Employees in this classification perform routine clerical work. Position is responsible for typing correspondence, reports, lists, and other materials, answering the telephone, and assisting caller or directing caller to appropriate person. Performs related work as required. Specific Duties and Responsibilities The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task performed within the classification. Handles walk-in’s Answer telephones, directs calls, delivers messages, greet visitors, answer questions and gives out information Inspects mail, (incoming and outgoing) Marginal Functions While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit member. Performs related duties as required. In accordance with the county’s drug free workplace policy, employees will be subject to pre-employment and random drug screening. Minimum Training and Experience High school diploma or GED, and vocational/technical degree with training emphasis in business or secretarial science, supplemented by 1 to 2 years’ experience and/or training involving office work, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

$15.66 – $23.49 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
