School Resource Deputy – Juvenile Relations Bureau Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (FL) Gainesville, FL Job Details Full-time $26.45 – $42.28 an hour 2 days ago Qualifications Mid-level Full Job Description JOB Specialized law enforcement position responsible for investigating incidents of juvenile crime and provide students with an understanding of the role of law enforcement in our society. Deputies assigned to this position are also responsible for guiding students, both individually and in classroom settings, regarding ethical and law-related issues that affect their lives in an effort to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency and juvenile crime.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the JRB Sergeant. Performance is evaluated through conferences, observation, results obtained, appropriate employee performance appraisals, and oral/written reports.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Enforce Florida State Statutes and federal, state, and local laws and ordinancesServe as a role model to students, especially in terms of appropriate attitudes and respectDeter misconduct by remaining highly visibleAssist the school administration when students or others commit acts of violence or crimes on campusInvestigate incidents of juvenile crime/crime-related activities; apprehend juvenile or adult suspectsServe as a liaison between the local law enforcement community and the schoolConduct classroom activities involving a wide range of topics, including security, crime prevention, drug prevention, drug/alcohol education, and other related issuesAssist with security at extracurricular eventsWork in partnership with the Alachua County School System in the development of innovative programsPrepare required reports and complete assigned functions in a timely mannerEnsure compliance with departmental Policies and Procedures Possess thorough familiarity with all applicable State and Federal lawsRemain knowledgeable of Florida’s Ethics Codes and Alachua County School Board rulesUnderstand the joint contract between the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and the Alachua County School BoardProvide input into the design and implementation of educational programs for the School Resource DeputyImprove the perception of the Alachua County Schools as a safe learning environment for studentsConduct Gun searches utilizing the K-9Provide for the direct supervision, health, care, and welfare of the assigned K-9Maintain training and activity logs of the assigned K-9May, on a limited or occasional basis, assist in other areas of the agencyMaintain cleanliness and operational readiness of all assigned equipment•This section of the job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties and responsibilities of the position.
