POSITION SUBJECT TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

” This class is assigned to provide care, custody, movement, and control of inmates. This is a “mandatory testing” position that requires Drug Testing.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Maintains the care, custody, and control of inmates housed in assigned facility by monitoring behavior to mitigate crime, escape attempts, and/or other related activities, conducting routine and emergency headcounts, implementing defensive tactics and physical restraint to maintain the safety and security of personnel, public citizens, and/or other related personnel within facility Supervises and directs the activities of inmate crews working on a variety of maintenance, operations, farming, and/or construction projects by transporting inmates to and from sites, rendering emergency first aide, inspecting worksites and crew trucks for contraband, cleanliness, and safety, maintaining applicable tools and equipment, maintaining related records and logs of man-hours, materials, and equipment used, and/or performing other related activities Supervises inmates engaged in performing emergency response work, which may include clearing roadways of debris, clearing drains to ensure positive water flow, recreating access to residential and vital business areas, and/or performing other related activities Conducts internal security checks and meal distribution by monitoring dormitories for inappropriate activity, monitoring facilities, making rounds at specified intervals, conducting headcounts and roll calls, supervising the distribution of inmate meals and observing the feeding process, and/or performing other related activities Books new inmates into facility and processes inmates for release by verifying warrants, conducting searches, fingerprinting inmates, preparing ID cards, receiving and accounting for monies and personal effects, and determining work assignments Conducts pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections of transport vehicles and other applicable equipment and tools Transports inmates to and from outside facilities, including medical and dental appointments, work details, court, and/or other applicable sites Prepares, processes, and maintains a variety of forms, reports, logs, records, activity journals, and/or other related documents Investigates attempted escapes and conducts searches for escaped inmates; apprehends escapees, conducts proper arrest techniques, including advisement of rights and application of mechanical restraints Performs other duties as assigned
