Individuals employed will be required to attend the Corrections Basic Recruit School (CBRS) as part of their normal workday. Once the recruit school is completed, individuals must pass the state certification exam. Upon successful completion of the CBRS and the state certification exam, the employee will advance to the classification of Jail Corrections Officer. “This is a mandatory testing” position that requires Drug Testing.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Attends classes, lectures, demonstrations, and exercises at George Stone Technical Center; School hours will vary depending on the class, may include nights and weekends
Trains on-the-job performing routine work assignments in the functional area for which training is prescribed; On-the-job training will be 12 hour rotating shifts to include days, night, weekends and holidays
Passes the Florida Corrections State Exam
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
Training and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and minimum age of 18, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Must pass an interview, computer voice stress analysis, fingerprints, physical, and drug screening in order to be considered for this position.
George Stone Technical Center requirements:
1. Pass a physical training pretest;

Cost:
$40.00 paid by the candidate per each exam, maximum of 2 attempts.
Both must be completed before an offer of employment can be made.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence

Must be able to pass background checks conducted through FDLE and the FBI.
