This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Liberty Correctional Institution in the Classification department. Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviors. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES

Join our dynamic team and make a real impact! This exciting position involves managing inmates through a collaborative case management approach, ensuring their needs are met with effective communication and resources.

Key responsibilities include:

Manage a diverse caseload of inmates, including those with special statuses, and prepare comprehensive inmate management plans.
Recommend custody classifications and institutional/program assignments based on thorough evaluations from reports, interviews, and correspondence.
Supervise and evaluate inmate progress, preparing detailed progress reports and making special status recommendations.
Maintain accurate inmate information in the department’s offender database system and evaluate gain time awards.
Assist in training new classification staff, support the Classification Supervisor with administrative functions, and manage a Release Officer caseload. Be part of a team that shapes the future of inmate rehabilitation and management!

REQUIREMENTS

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required. Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must possess two (2) years of Classification Officer experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with file audit and custody procedures.
Possess a working knowledge of disciplinary processes.
Capability to handle large volumes of inmate change and movement. Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
