This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in the Classification Department.
Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviors. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES
Join our dynamic team and make a real impact! This exciting position involves managing inmates through a collaborative case management approach, ensuring their needs are met with effective communication and resources.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress, set positive adjustment goals, and motivate inmates to achieve them. Develop comprehensive inmate management plans and identify needs and risks.
Planning and coordinating targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services to meet both inmate and departmental needs. Collaborate with various areas for optimal outcomes.
Evaluating diverse information sources, such as reports, interviews, and observations, to make informed decisions on inmate management.
Maintaining accurate and detailed inmate records in the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) and other necessary applications. Compile and develop records as needed.
Leading disciplinary hearings, making custody and reclassification recommendations, and handling special status inmate reviews. Ensure all eligible inmates receive appropriate gain time awards.

DESCRIPTION
The incumbent in this position is responsible for supervising, surveilling and maintaining a specialized caseload consisting of youthful offenders, drug offender probation, community controlees, pre-trial intervention offenders, offender releases or any combination of the above. As workload demands require, this position may be required to supervise other types or classifications of offenders. The incumbent may also perform duties relating to the intake officer, court liaison officer, trainer and electronic monitoring device installer. This position may also direct and supervise a correctional probation officer at a probation and restitution center and may involve monitoring a residential treatment facility and being the on-site departmental representative supervising the program participants.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Encourages and fosters offender compliance with the supervision order through guidance, goal setting, monitoring of offender behavior and supervision in the community. Conducts field and office supervision visits via personal contact, collateral/community contacts, surveillance contacts, telephone contacts and electronic methods to ensure compliance with conditions of supervision and to provide assistance to offenders as appropriate.
